nurture the youth of the church and community into a lifelong
relationship with Jesus Christ and equip them to be Christ-like servants
with a lifestyle that honors and glorifies God.”
Maurice 1st
Reformed Church (MRC) provides several programs and opportunities for
students in grades 7th through college to discover and grow
in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Students will experience
Christ-centered gatherings that are made up of students of “like age”
and adult volunteers who are passionate about serving and sharing the
love of Jesus Christ with others. The listing below is our current

Job description for Jr. GAP Youth Minister
Mission Statement for Maurice 1st Reformed Church
Glorify God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through our worship.

love and compassion. Bring people to Christ.
Summary:
Under the supervision of the Youth Leadership Team, this position will
involve developing a program of youth ministry for grades 6th
– 8th, in partnership with the Youth Pastor.
Purpose:
To enable each young person to have a personal knowledge of and
commitment to Jesus Christ, acquire a working knowledge of the Bible,
realize his or her place in the church family, and to be equipped to
reach out to others in service, friendship and witness. To be an
enabler and encourager to all persons involved in the youth ministry of
the church, developing and providing training and enrichment
opportunities for those in leadership roles.
Spiritual Qualities:
To be able to testify to a vital personal relationship with Jesus
Christ, and to claim of Him as Lord of his / her life.
To be able to demonstrate having a working knowledge of the Bible, and
of accepting it as the inspired and infallible Word of God.
To be able to express agreement with the Reformed interpretation of the
Bible and the Doctrinal Standards of the Reformed Church.
Set a good example in devotional and family life.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain constant contact with the Youth Pastor to:
Plan and develop Jr. GAP ministries
Be available for counseling
Help with the vision and direction of the overall Jr. GAP ministry
2. Youth Sponsor Team – shall maintain a team of adults who will work
together to achieve the youth ministry team goals.
Train youth leaders and interns who will in the future be able to
continue building the youth ministry.
Meet weekly with the staff whenever possible
Meet weekly with Youth Pastor via whatever means necessary
Meet monthly with the Youth Ministry Team (youth sponsors, interns,
volunteers, etc.), and meet quarterly with the Youth Leadership Team
3. Submit in writing yearly goals to the Youth Leadership Team, who will
in turn present them to the church leadership team.
4. Meet for evaluation annually with the staff committee.
5. Serve as liaison to the schools and community.
General Responsibilities:
1. To initiate, direct and coordinate programs and activities in the
areas of Jr. GAP youth ministries and outreach for Jr. GAP youth
2. To be supportive of the scheduled services of 1st
Reformed Church by regular attendance and participation.
3. To be responsive, along with the pastor, to the spiritual needs of
the members of the church being served. As such, it is assumed that no
outside responsibilities will be accepted without the consent of the
Youth Leadership Team.
4. Will work in conjunction with the Youth Pastor on all counseling
issues
5. Serve as administrator and resource person for the Jr. GAP youth
fellowship ministries.
6. Assist in the recruitment of Jr. GAP youth leaders and train them
for their task.
7. Assist Jr. GAP youth leaders with planning Jr. GAP youth activities
and programs.
8. Promote Jr. GAP youth conferences and camps and mission trips.
Specific responsibilities:
1. To promote participation in all Jr. GAP youth activities, and using
all available media to do so.
2. Organizing and directing on retreat activities with the Jr. GAP
youth group.
3. Build relationships with the youth through school events, and in
the community at large.
4. Shall work to develop a program of outreach and discipleship with
the youth of the church.
5. Organize and oversee the spiritual development of the Jr. GAP youth
using whatever means, ministries, and ways possible, to enable the
students to grow in their faith of Jesus Christ.
